A real job should not put you at risk.
Use these checks before sending personal documents, travelling to an interview or accepting an offer.
Warning signs
Pause when a recruiter creates urgency, avoids basic questions about the employer or promises unusually high pay for vague work.
- Never pay an application, interview, equipment or placement fee
- Do not share passwords, one-time codes or complete banking credentials
- Check the sender’s domain, employer website, interview address and written job details
- Be cautious when asked to receive or transfer money for somebody else
Protect your documents
A CV normally contains enough information for first contact. Share identity or banking documents only when there is a legitimate, explained need and you have verified who receives them. Redact information that is not required.
If something feels wrong
Stop communicating, keep screenshots and transaction details, contact the organisation through a separately verified channel, and report the listing on Apply.mu. If money or identity documents are involved, contact the appropriate Mauritian authorities or your bank without delay.
